More Ouch…

Well, made it through Christmas with only a little pain.  It’s my first Christmas without the wife at home in 20 years.

I went to see her in the Nursing Home a couple times this week, and even read her some of her Christmas cards that were sent by all sorts of people in the community.  She started falling asleep on me 🙂 so I had the nurse put her to bed and went ahead and left.

I took the boys to a movie, probably more to get out of the house on Christmas than to see a movie.  I just didn’t want to stay here without the wife around.

Folks… It’s been a rough couple weeks.

On the bright side, I found out this week that both her Medicaid and her SSI have come through, and her hospital bills are all going to be paid by those sources now.  It’s time for me to do a “life qualifying event” with our medical insurance and drop her since all her medical needs will be handled by the government now.

Keep her in your prayers.  Her body is declining rather quickly.  I don’t see another year in her, but she sure has surprised me before.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Happy New Year.
